Are you my boy with demons in your sleeve?
As I continue to feel terrible and limited in foodstuffs, I wanted to make dinner with a minimum of time and effort, so I opened a tin of smoked sardines and a tin of mackerel in olive oil and cooked them with leftover basmati rice and black pepper and one of the seasoning blends that
spatch and I refer to as "allium in a can" and I believe I succeeded in making totally inauthentic kedgeree. It was hot and tasted good. I bet I could have added yogurt if I had been thinking straight.

I do not regret it!

...Weird day, thanks for spending your spoons on it. *hugs*

I did! Then I ate some shortbread and spent the evening under a cat! That is about where I mentally am at present.

I really expected that sentence to end in cats. :-D

I had strategically fed them immediately before opening my own cans!

(This is the lowest rung. The next highest rung is Swedish Panic Supper, which is cooking a piece of fish in grainy mustard, cooking something green, and eating them both with dark bread. SPS is for when you have a little cooking energy but cannot figure out what you want to eat. SDS is for when you just Cannot Even.)

Thank you! And I can see that it would be: I am not a great mustard person except on certain kinds of deli sandwiches (specifically, chopped liver and tongue), but the general principle of fish on dark bread is extremely sound by me. If we substitute herring in cream, I am all over your depression supper.

I would also do it with tinned curried herring, but my source for that dried up, so if you find one and you like curry....

I'll let you know as soon as I've bought a dozen.

That does sound good. I keep forgetting how much I love mackerel.
