As it is that time of year again—
I have yet to get hold of The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror: 21st Annual Collection (2008), but I have been informed by those who have that I have six honorable mentions:
"Kameraden Obscure: A Retrospective" (poem), Not One of Us #37
"Notes Toward the Classification of the Lesser Moly," Zahir #12
"Perdidit Spolia" (poem), Midrash
"Plague-Bearer" (poem), Lone Star Stories #24
"Postscripts from the Red Sea" (poem), Goblin Fruit #6
"The Wedding in Hell," Jabberwocky #3
as well as one shared with John Benson, which is quite awesome:
"The Waters Where Once We Lay" (poem), Jabberwocky #3
and one mentioned in the summations under "a few more favorites which we encourage you to seek out":
"The Windfalls" (poem), Lone Star Stories #20
Most importantly, this is the collection in which my poem "Follow Me Home" (Lone Star Stories #19) is reprinted. It is my first-ever YBFH reprint and still, as it should be, a poem that matters to me. For its publication, I gladly blame
ericmarin; for its reprinting,
ellen_datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin J. Grant. And since my friendlist is full of honorable mentions and reprints, all of you rock!
Now to locate the book itself. I mean, give me a break; did you see the table of contents? I want to read it.
