In the early 1980s I considered enlisting in the Air Force, but ultimately decided not to because, among other reasons, I couldn't stomach the idea of having Reagan as my Commander in Chief. Today, the greatest and most vital patriotic act that anyone, including a disgruntled vet, could do for this country would likely get them the death penalty. But one can hope.

I logged onto bluesky earlier today & saw a bunch of lament/tributes to the first handful of US troops to die and was forcibly reminded of a nearly identical radio soundbite from the last round saying we'd lost 3 (US soldier) people in the process of *bombing another country* and even at the time I wanted to yell about what the heck do you expect to happen when you start a war and what about the casualties of the people you were bombing? Argh.
