I was only suggesting fifty years of me

[livejournal.com profile] derspatchel and I are engaged.

I gave him a copy of The Lady's Not for Burning. He gave me Tom Swift and His Repelatron Skyway. I brought the rings: a design of two cats, side by side. At the Friendly Toast, we signed our names to the question on the frontispiece of one book and the finale of the other.

(We are still making wedding plans. It is with great self-restraint that I have not titled this post THIS WILL ALL BE GONE INTO AT THE PROPER TIME.)

We are very, very happy.

I went to see The Big Broadcast of 1938 first because Michael McAfee mentioned a Boston version of War of the Worlds, then because [livejournal.com profile] sen_no_ongaku was writing the music, and then because Emperor Norton's was playing it! (I have e-mail to prove it: "In any case, I have never attended a live radio broadcast (or even a show in the style of one), and how can you resist the fusion of H.G. Wells and Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band? ") And then I said nice things about the Frank Cyrano Byfar Hour and everything went from there.

(All right, it took us a couple of years. But eventually everything.)
