I was only suggesting fifty years of me

derspatchel and I are engaged.

I gave him a copy of The Lady's Not for Burning. He gave me Tom Swift and His Repelatron Skyway. I brought the rings: a design of two cats, side by side. At the Friendly Toast, we signed our names to the question on the frontispiece of one book and the finale of the other.

(We are still making wedding plans. It is with great self-restraint that I have not titled this post THIS WILL ALL BE GONE INTO AT THE PROPER TIME.)

We are very, very happy.

derspatchel played in Theatre@First's Appalachian production in 2011 (which I remember discussing with you on LJ!). He pretty much blew me away. It's a fond memory and one of the best lines for not dealing I know.

We had crazy drinks at the Friendly Toast. We were careful to wait until they arrived before we took our books out, so as not to be prevented from toasting. (Also from standing up in the awkward space between the diner tables and hugging tight as breath, but that would have happened regardless.)
