I had a generally lousy day in not very interesting ways, but in the evening
spatch and I made a steak with black beans and rice and in honor of Harry Morgan's birthday watched Support Your Local Sheriff! (1969), which was delightful: I realized it belongs to the style of comedy which pitches all the jokes it can think of in the audience's direction while running very fast the other way, which I associate with Mel Brooks and enjoy. Tomorrow I have another doctor's appointment so early I might as well not bother trying to sleep. I have too many movies and even books I would rather write about. In the last few nights we seem to have acquired a mockingbird which serenades us at unwanted hours with its celebrated impersonation of a car alarm. It makes a change from the four a.m. motorcycle across the street.
