Am I lost inside my mind?

In the afternoon when the overcast cleared, spatch and I went walking down to the Mystic and I photographed a whole lot of flowers, of which I was happiest with the ones that came out like abstracts.



The tulips had gone for psychedelia.



We dubbed this one Audrey IV.



I hadn't realized Giger had a pastel period.



I just found this one luminous.



I did not get a satisfactory picture of the painted turtle we saw swimming in the Mystic, sculling with its striped head above the water and the bright underside of its shell just visible beneath. Rob got a picture of me sitting on the bridge.



The railing belonged to the parking structure I was standing on while taking a picture of the condemned Elizabeth Grady building which during the Depression had been a silk mill. The texture of the paint reminded me of the barnacle speckling on a humpback whale.



The dead silk tulips were curling at my parents' house, where we watched the Kentucky Derby with my mother. She watched with her mother for years.

Physically I am just pretty miserable, but the lilac is breaking out in real bloom and Rob has been showing me potato-quality Deep Space Nine (1993–99). I had tarragon-sautéed mushrooms and zucchini for dinner.

It looked astonishingly bee-like to me! I don't know enough about tulips to know whether it actually evolved so to attract them.

Dramatically low-resolution or otherwise visually janky, I believe from the idea of something that looks as though it was shot using a potato. It is the price for watching Deep Space Nine for free on Pluto TV instead of HD on Paramount+, but I am so happy not to give money to Paramount+. [edit] Per aurumcalendula it may not look much better on Paramount+, but I am still happy not to give them money.

As of last night spatch was showing me selected episodes because I am in a weird space with DS9 where I saw a handful of it first-run (at which time it was generally crowded out by my attachment to Babylon 5, although I loved the episode which turned out to be "Bar Association"), another semi-randomized string of episodes in 2012 when spatch was doing a marathon rewatch of the entire series, and then a handful of recommendations in 2015 thanks to skygiants, with the result that I have a strong idea of the shape of everyone's stories and the major trends in the show and have officially seen less than half of it. In terms of characters, I am predictably most attached to Garak, Bashir, Quark and his family so long as the show remembers to treat the Ferengi like a real culture instead of a punch line, Odo even when the show isn't interested in the aspects of shape-changing that I am. In terms of the show itself, I responded strongly to its willingness to question the Federation default and the messiness of its cultural negotiations by pretty much everybody including the human characters. It felt adult in ways that had nothing to do with its seasons of war. I am sure it had filler problems, but most of what I have seen is just incredibly sound.

I agree! It has so many layers and complex characters that escape quick and easy definitions! <3
