sovay: (Lord Peter Wimsey: passion)
My desire to write lengthy posts about several different things is in conflict with my need to remain employed and make all my doctor's appointments this week. The Big E was magnificent, however. I ate a stuffed quahog, pulled some lovely g's on the midway, and learned how to tell the difference between three breeds of sheep. We got back almost exactly twelve hours after we left.

My contributor's copy of Not One of Us #50 was waiting in the mailbox when we got home from grocery shopping this evening. In keeping with its anniversary nature, the theme of this issue is deep time, and I am incredibly happy to be part of it. It opens with a short story by [livejournal.com profile] ashlyme and closes with a poem by [livejournal.com profile] strange_selkie and in between features work from [livejournal.com profile] ajodasso, [livejournal.com profile] handful_ofdust, [livejournal.com profile] domparisien, and many other fine writers who are not on LJ, regulars and new names both. My contribution is the flash piece "And Black Unfathomable Lakes," inspired by a Tumblr post of Gemma's in June. I should have dedicated it to Peter Cushing in his centenary year, but I can do that here. Table of contents and ordering information this way. You should go for it. [livejournal.com profile] lesser_celery has been publishing this magazine out of his house since 1986. I had my first story in NOU #26. Happy hundredth, Peter Cushing, happy fiftieth, NOU. You may look like we do, talk like we do, but you know how it is . . .

[livejournal.com profile] derspatchel and I have keys to our new place now.
