So I felt like an idiot for not recognizing David Threlfall as Preserved Killick in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), because between the previous rewatch in 2009 and showing it last night to
derspatchel, I'd seen the RSC's The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1982) in which he makes an indelible Smike.
I can handwave that if I have to: there's twenty-one years between them, Smike is a character with a lot of tics and physical contortions, it is wholly possible to be distracted from many things by Killick's facial hair.
I didn't recognize either of them in Martin Blower (God rest him) from Hot Fuzz (2007). Which I just saw last week. And that's with nothing more than a pair of glasses and some of the worst acting since Dean Learner.
Well done, that man.
