Well, he murdered Bill Shakespeare
So I felt like an idiot for not recognizing David Threlfall as Preserved Killick in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), because between the previous rewatch in 2009 and showing it last night to
derspatchel, I'd seen the RSC's The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1982) in which he makes an indelible Smike.
I can handwave that if I have to: there's twenty-one years between them, Smike is a character with a lot of tics and physical contortions, it is wholly possible to be distracted from many things by Killick's facial hair.
I didn't recognize either of them in Martin Blower (God rest him) from Hot Fuzz (2007). Which I just saw last week. And that's with nothing more than a pair of glasses and some of the worst acting since Dean Learner.
Well done, that man.

I'm usually good with chameleons! He's very skilled.
Have you seen World's End yet?
No! It hasn't come out here in wide release. There was a showing at the Brattle Theatre last weekend which sold out literally three minutes after the tickets went on sale. The manager was telling the story between Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz: they thought the ticketing site was broken and wasted a lot of time trying to fix it before realizing that, no, that many people had just been waiting till midnight to get their Cornetto fix.
