Well, he murdered Bill Shakespeare

So I felt like an idiot for not recognizing David Threlfall as Preserved Killick in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), because between the previous rewatch in 2009 and showing it last night to [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel, I'd seen the RSC's The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1982) in which he makes an indelible Smike.

I can handwave that if I have to: there's twenty-one years between them, Smike is a character with a lot of tics and physical contortions, it is wholly possible to be distracted from many things by Killick's facial hair.

I didn't recognize either of them in Martin Blower (God rest him) from Hot Fuzz (2007). Which I just saw last week. And that's with nothing more than a pair of glasses and some of the worst acting since Dean Learner.

Well done, that man.
