And all the stars were crashing round

I just walked out through the dead leaves in the side yard and looked for the exploding comet with a pair of binoculars, but I didn't need them: it's a diffuse, distinct halo of light below Perseus, triangulated with Mirfak (Alpha Persei) and Delta Persei. This is wonderful.

Not a hope. I can barely make Orion out. Maybe as it westers? The light
pollution is fierce looking east toward the city.

Damn.

I saw it without realizing I saw it (looking for it elsewhere in the sky last week, and thinking, "Hmm, aren't there more stars in Cassiopeia than usual?") I need to try to get another look now that it's gotten more halo-ed.

Will it still be visible tonight I wonder?

How cool!

Lovely.

I'll try to look for it tonight.
