Sidetrack my engine and go home
I just heard a train go by in the night. I was listening to the right music for it.
derspatchel took these pictures of me and Autolycus on Sunday. I love that sleek little cat so much.

Last night I finished my first story since February; it is the first thing of any kind I've written since July. I feel very badly tone-deaf toward my own work right now, but beta-reader results appear to be favorable. This is good. I don't suppose anyone knows any queer dark fantasy anthologies currently reading?
My birthday is on Friday. I've been having trouble all year remembering how old I am. This had better help.

Oh, wow. That's hard in so many ways. *hugs* Back when I worked out of province for a few months, it was a choice, which obviously made it far, far easier, but it was still hard being away from my husband for that long (I saw him for a few one-week stints), and the phone was a lifesaver. We didn't have our cats then, and I can only imagine how difficult it'd be to be away from them that much. :(
On the off chance that it helps to hear anecdata, I've been away from our cats for up to two weeks at a stretch, and I missed them awfully, but they've been the same as always to me once I'm home, if perhaps a little clingy for a day or so. I hope the same is true with you and yours.

I appreciate the anecdata. I just had a wonderful day with the cats, so I am hoping to be able to continue this pattern of visiting every few days for as long as necessary. They certainly seemed happy to see me today. Thank you.
