Sidetrack my engine and go home

I just heard a train go by in the night. I was listening to the right music for it. [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel took these pictures of me and Autolycus on Sunday. I love that sleek little cat so much.

Last night I finished my first story since February; it is the first thing of any kind I've written since July. I feel very badly tone-deaf toward my own work right now, but beta-reader results appear to be favorable. This is good. I don't suppose anyone knows any queer dark fantasy anthologies currently reading?

My birthday is on Friday. I've been having trouble all year remembering how old I am. This had better help.

Those are lovely photos. I'm glad you got to see the kitties! (I don't know the reason for being apart from them--not prying, just noting! ^^--but I hope you're able to see them again soon. I missed ours so much this past weekend, and we were only away from them for one full day.)

Hooray for new words, too!

Hi kitty! You both look great in those pictures.

I have said for years that I am not a woman of a certain age, I am a woman of an uncertain age. I can't keep track of how old I am without a moment to remember details like what year it is and how to do math. I would never lie about my age, because I'm pleased, most of the time, to still be here, but I do guess wrong a lot.

For reasons that are financial rather than emotional, my husband and I are living apart for the next couple of months, and his living situation was the one that could most easily accommodate the cats.

Oh, wow. That's hard in so many ways. *hugs* Back when I worked out of province for a few months, it was a choice, which obviously made it far, far easier, but it was still hard being away from my husband for that long (I saw him for a few one-week stints), and the phone was a lifesaver. We didn't have our cats then, and I can only imagine how difficult it'd be to be away from them that much. :(

On the off chance that it helps to hear anecdata, I've been away from our cats for up to two weeks at a stretch, and I missed them awfully, but they've been the same as always to me once I'm home, if perhaps a little clingy for a day or so. I hope the same is true with you and yours.

Glad to hear of story completion. Glad to see Autolycus. Having a tiny cat makes every cat look huge these days, so my first reaction was "look at how long his legs are!"

What a beautiful cat. He looks very spiritual.

And definitely loves you!

Happy Birthday, too.

Autolycus is the coolest name for a cat. Wikipedia suggested he might have the power to become invisible, which makes these remarkable photos.

♥ ♥ ♥

That second photo is beautiful of you. And all photos of your cats are beautiful.

ETA to change to the proper autumnal icon.
