Sidetrack my engine and go home
I just heard a train go by in the night. I was listening to the right music for it.
derspatchel took these pictures of me and Autolycus on Sunday. I love that sleek little cat so much.

Last night I finished my first story since February; it is the first thing of any kind I've written since July. I feel very badly tone-deaf toward my own work right now, but beta-reader results appear to be favorable. This is good. I don't suppose anyone knows any queer dark fantasy anthologies currently reading?
My birthday is on Friday. I've been having trouble all year remembering how old I am. This had better help.

Hooray for new words, too!

For reasons that are financial rather than emotional, my husband and I are living apart for the next couple of months, and his living situation was the one that could most easily accommodate the cats. My cousins already have two cats who are thirteen years old and in intermittently complicated health; it is not a big apartment and they were very unsure there would be room for all four cats, not without traumatizing at least one set and possibly both.
Hooray for new words, too!
Thank you!

Oh, wow. That's hard in so many ways. *hugs* Back when I worked out of province for a few months, it was a choice, which obviously made it far, far easier, but it was still hard being away from my husband for that long (I saw him for a few one-week stints), and the phone was a lifesaver. We didn't have our cats then, and I can only imagine how difficult it'd be to be away from them that much. :(
On the off chance that it helps to hear anecdata, I've been away from our cats for up to two weeks at a stretch, and I missed them awfully, but they've been the same as always to me once I'm home, if perhaps a little clingy for a day or so. I hope the same is true with you and yours.

I appreciate the anecdata. I just had a wonderful day with the cats, so I am hoping to be able to continue this pattern of visiting every few days for as long as necessary. They certainly seemed happy to see me today. Thank you.

I have said for years that I am not a woman of a certain age, I am a woman of an uncertain age. I can't keep track of how old I am without a moment to remember details like what year it is and how to do math. I would never lie about my age, because I'm pleased, most of the time, to still be here, but I do guess wrong a lot.

Thank you! Autolycus is a beautiful cat. I'll try to get pictures of Hestia next time. She was enthusiastic about being petted, but not so much about being picked up.

I feel like I did all right until this past year! I'm not really sure what happened. I spent most of the year thinking I was older. It was not a great year.

And we didn't even photograph his paws!
Thank you. I am glad of these things, too.

I think it's a good sign. I don't like when I'm not writing. It may need some revision, but that's not a disaster.
Thank you!

And definitely loves you!
Happy Birthday, too.

His full name is Tybalt Autolycus Taaffe. My father calls him the Lost Heir of the Byzantines.
Wikipedia suggested he might have the power to become invisible, which makes these remarkable photos.
I would not be surprised.

That second photo is beautiful of you. And all photos of your cats are beautiful.
ETA to change to the proper autumnal icon.

Thank you. I think so about the cats.
