Then fall apart, then start again
Rabbit, rabbit. The weather around here is doing its best impression of the hurricane we didn't get in August.
Last night
lesser_celery brought me an early birthday present: a copy of Patricia Russo's Shiny Thing. I've also now got a DVD of The Legend of Hell House (1973), which I should really not watch this afternoon, seeing as how Alison and I are supposed to spend the evening with Spice & Wolf (2008) and Ethiopian food.
I am extremely glad that the tank-driving mayor of Vilnius showed up to the Ig Nobels to claim his Peace Prize.
In eight days, I'll be thirty.

This is indeed a fine and pleasant thing.

Not a bad age to be. Ten days after that, I'll be thirty-six.

How nice to find that as the last comment just now! If I knew you were an October person before, I'd forgotten, which seems unlikely; I see you share a birthday with Sean Lennon and other fine souls, good company and you right at home. My own birthday is October 17; this year on that day, I will have the odd experience of being able to say, more or less truthfully, "When Shakespeare was my age, he died that very same day."

How was the Ethiopian food? There's a good Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant not far away from my boyfriend's flat. We've been quite a few times. Strangely, it's called The Shamrock.
