Last night lesser_celery brought me an early birthday present: a copy of Patricia Russo's Shiny Thing. I've also now got a DVD of The Legend of Hell House (1973), which I should really not watch this afternoon, seeing as how Alison and I are supposed to spend the evening with Spice & Wolf (2008) and Ethiopian food.

I am extremely glad that the tank-driving mayor of Vilnius showed up to the Ig Nobels to claim his Peace Prize.

In eight days, I'll be thirty.

Yeah, well, if it makes you feel better, it should be eight days. My birthday is the ninth. I was counting inclusively, but that only works for the Roman calendar.

Heh. Yup, so much better now. We're practically coeval. Apart from, y'know, the odd couple of decades or so.

(Did I remember to tell you there's a Taaffe St in Sunnyvale, CA? Dunno if that's weirdly coincidental or common-as-muck all across the US, but you and it are the two instances of that name in my life thus far...)
