Then fall apart, then start again
Rabbit, rabbit. The weather around here is doing its best impression of the hurricane we didn't get in August.
Last night
lesser_celery brought me an early birthday present: a copy of Patricia Russo's Shiny Thing. I've also now got a DVD of The Legend of Hell House (1973), which I should really not watch this afternoon, seeing as how Alison and I are supposed to spend the evening with Spice & Wolf (2008) and Ethiopian food.
I am extremely glad that the tank-driving mayor of Vilnius showed up to the Ig Nobels to claim his Peace Prize.
In eight days, I'll be thirty.

Ours is doing its best impression of the summer we didn't get in August.

I think you win.

Yeah, well, if it makes you feel better, it should be eight days. My birthday is the ninth. I was counting inclusively, but that only works for the Roman calendar.

Likewise!
There are crickets cricking away outside in the rain.
We've got crows.

Please remember to tell her happy birthday from me!

(Did I remember to tell you there's a Taaffe St in Sunnyvale, CA? Dunno if that's weirdly coincidental or common-as-muck all across the US, but you and it are the two instances of that name in my life thus far...)

I keep hearing this.

Also, yay The Legend of Hell House!

Glad to hear of the good things. Hope ye enjoy the Spice and Wolf and the Ethiopian food!

This is indeed a fine and pleasant thing.
In eight days, I'll be thirty.
Not a bad age to be. Ten days after that, I'll be thirty-six.
PS
I hope the weather isn't as bad as what we had then. Or at least that your power says on.

I consider it a very appropriate way to start off the month!

Thank you.

Noted.

Happy early birthday!

This is the month of many birthdays.

All the best people are October people.

Happy early birthday!
What are hare people like?

**I guess that's two characteristics? Math.

I believe I'm a rooster, which depresses me every time I read it on a placemat—arrogant, conservative, perfectionist, self-centered. I don't know what the element of metal adds, except maybe I'm also supposed to have money?

I like that phrase.
Thank you!

Thank you! You also!
no subject
Indeed. So, we're both Rabbit-Libras, to coin a (shamelessly multi-cultural) phrase?
Happy early birthday to you!

How nice to find that as the last comment just now! If I knew you were an October person before, I'd forgotten, which seems unlikely; I see you share a birthday with Sean Lennon and other fine souls, good company and you right at home. My own birthday is October 17; this year on that day, I will have the odd experience of being able to say, more or less truthfully, "When Shakespeare was my age, he died that very same day."

How was the Ethiopian food? There's a good Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant not far away from my boyfriend's flat. We've been quite a few times. Strangely, it's called The Shamrock.

Thank you! It's appreciated.
How was the Ethiopian food?
It was good. We ate at Addis Red Sea in Porter Square; I think I prefer Asmara in Central Square (among other things, the bread is better), but I succeeded in my plan to eat a great deal of kitfo, so.
Strangely, it's called The Shamrock.
That's kind of awesome.

Happy early birthday! Don't die.
