With your prey

M. John Harrison recommends A.S. Byatt's Ragnarok (2011), even if it isn't really a novel.

Someone whom I do not know, but of whom I approve, has organized the Big Gay Hamlet Ficathon. Go forth and deCard.

The Byatt sounds interesting, and I'm glad it sounds she's done a good job with it. My mother likes her--I might get her a copy for her birthday or the like.

Excellent. I heartily approve, and wish I were better able to participate, but there aren't enough women* and any attempt on my part at writing male slash always comes out as too much of a parody to be worth anything.

*Gertrude/Ophelia? Too much like a female version of Card's paederastic King Hamlet/Horatio, that. And I don't think gender-flipping everyone so Hamletta and Horatia can have a massively anachronistic schoolgirl romance and maybe a complicated flirtation with the handsome Ophelion is exactly on, either.
