Of relevance to people who care about lighthouses, their keepers, and workers not suddenly having their jobs and lives pulled out from underneath them: "Workers' union, former lightkeepers concerned with Coast Guard's decision to destaff B.C. lighthouses." Canadians, feel free to write your senators, MPs, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard. Non-Canadians, please signal-boost if you can. It's a lost battle where I live: before I was ten, the last staffed lighthouse left in the U.S. was the Boston Light and its last keeper retired at the end of last year. Where it's living work, however, preserving it is not merely a matter of tradition.
