I got shot in the eyelids this afternoon. By a specialist in oculoplastics, not by accident. Dissatisfied with the progress of my eyes despite two and change weeks of two different kinds of drops and more hot compresses than I have applied to my face in my life, she decided to try speeding up the process: we determined I could tolerate the relevant steroid and she gave me three injections of it. The procedure did not require a local; she said it would sting more than the injections. I would have been willing to test this claim, but I did have the option of spacing the shots out across multiple visits and since I had gone to the trouble of driving downtown on minimal sleep it seemed silly not to get the sunk cost fallacy over with. My eyes teared up bloodily for about five or ten minutes afterward and I regret not asking [personal profile] spatch to take a picture of me as a horned toad. Once out of the doctor's office, since apparently you can get needles in your eyes without driving restrictions, we fled the crowds of the Red Sox game and ended up collecting lunch from Hot Chix Boston in Inman Square because we had never heard of them and we hadn't had Nashville hot chicken since 2019. We ate our sandwiches sitting on a park bench across from the Amelia Earhart Dam at Draw Seven Park and I did not have either enough water or enough mouth-scraping starch for the Scoville content of my fried chicken with pickles and coleslaw and some kind of remoulade which may also have been hot; it was great. The restaurant has been open just about a year and I wish them luck on their five-year mark. Since then I have had a telehealth appointment and sat on a couch with a hot compress staring into space. This color palette feels like cheating; my favorite color by far in the entire array is Tiresome Pedant. The next most attractive after that is Louche Sybarite, but I don't think they go together.
