I'm not loud, I'm not holy, I'm not lonely
I got shot in the eyelids this afternoon. By a specialist in oculoplastics, not by accident. Dissatisfied with the progress of my eyes despite two and change weeks of two different kinds of drops and more hot compresses than I have applied to my face in my life, she decided to try speeding up the process: we determined I could tolerate the relevant steroid and she gave me three injections of it. The procedure did not require a local; she said it would sting more than the injections. I would have been willing to test this claim, but I did have the option of spacing the shots out across multiple visits and since I had gone to the trouble of driving downtown on minimal sleep it seemed silly not to get the sunk cost fallacy over with. My eyes teared up bloodily for about five or ten minutes afterward and I regret not asking
spatch to take a picture of me as a horned toad. Once out of the doctor's office, since apparently you can get needles in your eyes without driving restrictions, we fled the crowds of the Red Sox game and ended up collecting lunch from Hot Chix Boston in Inman Square because we had never heard of them and we hadn't had Nashville hot chicken since 2019. We ate our sandwiches sitting on a park bench across from the Amelia Earhart Dam at Draw Seven Park and I did not have either enough water or enough mouth-scraping starch for the Scoville content of my fried chicken with pickles and coleslaw and some kind of remoulade which may also have been hot; it was great. The restaurant has been open just about a year and I wish them luck on their five-year mark. Since then I have had a telehealth appointment and sat on a couch with a hot compress staring into space. This color palette feels like cheating; my favorite color by far in the entire array is Tiresome Pedant. The next most attractive after that is Louche Sybarite, but I don't think they go together.

This seems counterintuitive! I hope the steroid does the trick. (The sandwich sounds delicious.)

I was surprised! But my pupils weren't dilated and the stigmata had gone away by the time we got back to the car, so.
I hope the steroid does the trick.
Thank you! I can't wait for my depth perception to go back to normal. I have been having difficulty parking lately which makes me worry about passing that test from Only Angels Have Wings (1939).
(The sandwich sounds delicious.)
I had to blow my nose multiple times!
(Do you have local hot chicken? I sort of assume you have everything.)

I hope you can find a non-spicy fried chicken sandwich of suitably satisfying effect.
(Half of my family does not eat spicy food. I just belong to the half that does.)

I went, "What's my favourite color in this array? One of the greens, clearly. Yep, there we are, Tiresome Pedant." However I could not find Louche Sybarite by the same method, landing instead on Bewildered Hedonist.

Fair enough. It was the next most interesting color to me regardless of whether I would wear or decorate with it. I'd have gone for one of the blues if any of them had been sufficiently vivid!

(Although I do have a cardigan that's very nearly Bewildered Hedonist which I chose because its color was so pleasing to me, though it turns out to suits about nothing else I own and I seldom wear it - this reflects early stages in wardrobe formation and seems suitable for a bewildered hedonist).

None taken and none hopefully returned!

Everything about this state of affairs is excellent.

Thank you! and also for the validation.

I think my favorite of the lot is, regrettably, Belligerent Narcissist, but Tiresome Pedant is a very close second and (I certainly hope) a much more fitting one. We'll go with it.

Thank you! The exciting and unplumbed capacities of the human body, otherwise known as why the hell does it do that.

It's a very pleasant malachite!

Headcanon accepted. It seems to be a popular choice.

Re: excellent zeugma served here
I can see how those would go together.
but I don't think I have sufficient ambition for mendacious charlatan.
I had the same problem with Cynical Opportunist. It is a nice enough slightly dry periwinkle, but I can't be bothered with looking for angles all the time.
Oculoplastics sounded alarming enough that I had to go and look it up, but I am relieved to find that it's plastic as in form, which reassures me for your eyes and the genre of your personal narrative overall.
Thank you! I am not at this time endeavoring to plug myself into anything post-modern: I got referred from the regular ophthalmologist. What goes on with my eyes is a complication of allergies which I find personally horrifying and which the specialist has seen worse than, which is reassuring but I still don't want it.
Be well. Hurrah chicken.
I forgot that I took a picture of the chicken on my phone. I do not normally photograph my food, but it looked so crustacean-like. I would eat a Nashville hot crab.
