Despite staying home for the entire afternoon and evening, yesterday, in the main, blew truck nuts. I am not entirely sure what my health is doing, except it isn't good—I think my goal for this year is (a) not falling asleep between every item of programming (b) not losing my voice. I had weird, dizzily vivid dreams in which my brain mashed up what
handful_ofdust's been telling me about Defiance with my longing for the sea: white-haired, chalk-eyed people on a rocky shore with an acrid orange sun hanging over the waves, turning everything metallic colors like an overpainted postcard; the sand and everything in shadow the same floating violet as afterimages. (Then I dreamed of having to drive Abbie somewhere for
derspatchel, which was actually weirder.) My body is unconvinced it slept at all.
Nonetheless: I leave for Readercon this afternoon. I'm on two panels to start. I'm leading the first one. We will see what happens. I suspect I will have fun.
I will return when there's internet.
