sovay: (Lord Peter Wimsey: passion)
Niteblade #21 has met its issue costs, so my poem "Phersu" is now fully online with the rest of the contents. The poem was originally published in Not One of Us #42; it was written in pretty much direct consequence of the naming of Vanth, about a week after [livejournal.com profile] selidor sent me the very first image of the moon, taken from the Hubble Space Telescope in 2005. It might be a good poem for October. The title is cognate with the Latin persona: mask. The deep-space photo hangs on my wall below two elemental pen-drawings done by my best friend in high school, next to the poster for The Big Broadcast of October 30th, 1938 and sort of on the diagonal from the self-portrait of my watercolor housemate, Richard de Menocal. It's not quite an Etruscan tomb painting, but it will do until then.

[edit] Trying to remember in conversation with [livejournal.com profile] kraada the other interesting person I share a birthday with who isn't PJ Harvey, I did manage to recall that it's Camille Saint-Saëns, but I had no idea about Alastair Sim or Jacques Tati. (Also Brian Blessed, but I don't think I should say that too loudly.) Rock on, October.
