I have nurses I can talk to and thermometers to hold

On the one hand it is incredibly stupid that I had to rescue the car from its wheel-spinning stall in refrozen snow with a box of cat sand fetched from the front hall, but on the other I feel incredibly smug that it worked.

Impressively resourceful, imo!

Nicely done! And environmentally superior to brightly coloured poisonous salts.

(Do you remember a short story about a necklace of poisonous stones passing from person to person? I wish to cite it but cannot remember enough particulars to do so.)

This cannot hope to compete with the stalactite, but after some searching I believe it is a story by Miriam Allen Deford with the helpful title of "The Poison Necklace," which I possibly first consumed in the collection _Thrillers and More Thrillers_ (paperback ed. 1972) -- seems plausible because this collection also contains a story called "Faith, Hope, and Charity," which if it is the one I remember -- about desperadoes -- really effed me up.

It turns out to be a fairly workmanlike story.

(I don’t, but I remember an extended Tumblr thread about whether or not a polished malachite stalactite would be too toxic to use as a sex toy, with geologists and biologists weighing in)

Dramatic performance of the malachite stalactite thread can make the teen flee the room, FYI!

STILL KVELLING THAT THIS WOOOOORKED. It works! Who knew! (If N has not told you the Bluestone Pavers Story six times, they should when we talk next or something. You have beaten the Bluestone Pavers Story, IMO, but N does adore it for its proof my family are not even very good wolves.)

Oh, they love telling it.
It was the one time in my damn life... NO. I AM NOT GOING TO DO A SPOILER. NO SPOILERS.

I was going to email you this but you know what, your entire readership should bask in the glow until the fumes hit.

It's nice to have moments when that happens! Feel smug, why not?
