Unable to sleep at all last night, I translated several of Theokritos' Idylls. Which was no doubt good for my bucolic vocabulary, but has left me rather incoherent otherwise. Fortunately, today's post had very little to do with me anyway.

It takes me almost exactly an hour and a half to walk down Mass Ave into Harvard Square. Next stop: the Boston Public Garden. Wann geht der nächste Schwan?

And here I thought I was weird for reading Anglo-Saxon doom poetry when I have trouble sleeping. :)

I don't know nearly as much as I did in college--I had a professor who loved OE and had all kinds of related stuff, such as an LP of Beowulf being read in the original--but still enough to catch what's going on.

And I still like reading it aloud too. :D

Crap, I don't have a "bashful" icon. If I had known that little reaction piece was going to get this much attention, I would have spent more effort on it. And probably spell checked it.
