I could tell you what it feels like, but it's overdone

Today I spent most of the afternoon at the doctor's and emerged clutching an unexpectedly large paper bag of medications, because I don't have pneumonia, but I do have an acute sinus infection and purulent bronchitis, which sounds unnecessarily scary if you ask me. [personal profile] spatch met me afterward and took me to Dakzen where he ordered me a five-alarm sour tamarind curry with whole shrimp and a fried egg. I really appreciated it. I feel that whatever plans I had for the rest of this weekend are not going to happen, unless they involve not moving.

Oh man, sympathies. *support support* I hope the medications do the trick.

Yikes! I hope the meds knock out those bugs. The curry sounds delicious and restorative.

That sounds like when I was diagnosed with giant papillary conjunctivitis and imagined it as an enormous cartoon microbe lurking in a dark alley.

I hope you feel better very soon.

THEY SHOULD RENAME THAT BRONCHITIS IMMEDIATELY.

I am glad you have a new arsenal but very sorry it's needed. Excellent Spatch, however, for providing the curry. I hope it was restorative.

We have a replicate brass dinner bell of a type used on 19th-century sailing ships (allegedly) and David has been known to ring it when he has a particularly virulent-feeling cold. Sadly, I cannot teleport it to you, so really I feel the easier solution is to rename the bronchitis immediately.

I saw your additional description of the curry in comments above and WOW, it sounds just sublime.

I had to look up 'purulent'. Nasty. But it sounds like a description rather than a diagnosis, so I take it that 'infection' is the magic word here. And yay! meds for dealing with that.

While the curry as treatment for the symptoms sounds (to my levels of chili tolerance) like kill or cure: if THAT doesn't clear those sinuses...

"Purulent". One of those lovely words that you'd rather it be lovely over there.

Yeah, I had chronic purulent bronchitis as a kid and then again when I was a smoker (DUMB, MOI) in college. I wonder if we have similar respiratory system issues.

Ahh, I had 'walking pneumonia' when I was about two. And tons of sinus infections and bronchitis (the bronchitis went away when I quit smoking, the sinus infections remain bad and chronic to this day) and chronic tonsillitis so bad they yanked mine out (along with the adenoids) when I was six. (Any new doctor peering into my throat: "You had your tonsils out!" "And my adenoids.") In fact I was in an incubator for a couple of weeks when I was a newborn, which LATER I learned is typically related to respiratory issues?

tl;dr I think my immune system is permanently on strike.

I wondered if you had bronchitis. I got it once, from a cough. The inhaler thing really does work, it just takes a bit.

Hope your not moving plans are upheld by the universe.

In the immortal words of the Breakfast Club, I think your acute sinus infections and my acute sinus infections should get together and go bowling.

'Purulent bronchitis' sounds positively Victorian. Any sign of leannan sidhe groupies yet?

That diagnosis sounds really icky; but at least you HAVE one, and medication for it.

That sounds like it was an excellent idea.
