The strength of the vampire is that people will not believe in him
Sadly, last night was terrible and I did not fall asleep until after eight in the morning, with the result that I have no idea if anything I had planned for today will actually happen. In lieu of content this afternoon, please enjoy this pair of adorable publicity stills from Dracula (1931).

It's Dracula's not at all apologetic look in the second photo that really makes this narrative for me. Also, Renfield is quite right to worry about his plotline.

I'm sorry about your last-night. -_-

I feel like I'm used to seeing Lugosi's expression on Autolycus and Hestia: what were you expecting? Cat! Only for cat read vampire, which is perhaps not inappropriate.
I'm sorry about your last-night.
Thank you. It was really awful. Today got better, though. I left the house.

Thank you! The rest of today has been better, fortunately. I still wouldn't say I'm doing fantastically, but objectively good things have happened.

Much as I love Dwight Frye here, my favorite thing is the obsessed look of Mina in the first picture. She looks like she popped in from a slightly different genre--weird horror, where she could be the scholar who reads creepy old books until she starts seeing things that no one else can.
I want to share something almost as lovely. Googling "Bela Lugosi young shirtless" to find a certain picture, I found the one I wanted plus a lot of other nice photos, in this post: http://amidoingthiswriteorwhat.blogspot.com/2015/05/whats-this-young-bearded-and.html Including Lugosi!Jesus shirtless with a crown of thorns, Lugosi wearing nothing but a singlet and a frilly Speedo, and the photo I wanted--shirtless Lugosi with a fencing foil, wearing borderline-kinky black collar and cuffs.
Who knew Lugosi had fantastic gams?

Yes! She looks absolutely fascinated. (Maybe you should write that version.)

I'd seen the "Young, handsome" photo before, but none of the others, including the smoldering shoulder-turn immediately above and, indeed, the shirtless pics. Thank you! This has also improved my day.

Ah good, I'm glad!
Also, I would/will write that Mina if I ever can. There aren't enough female Harley Warren characters, goodness knows. I need an obsessed pseudoscientist character for the thing-after-the-thing-after-the-thing-after the story I'm currently working on, and maybe she will fit the bill.

+1. I look forward. As well as to the things in between.

Yes! Sorry, not sorry.
