Hey! Internet! I've just been talking about how much it sucks when a novel kills off its queer characters. Especially when there's, like, one of them and they're the one who doesn't make it. Can someone point me toward a list of books where that doesn't happen? Spoilers, whatever.

There's a lot of explicit sexual material (she's written a lot of yaoi) in her work but she's one of the best of the yaoi manga-ka's at creating characters that act like people instead of yaoi archetypes.

Explicit sexual anything is not a problem. Characters that didn't act like people would be, but I'm glad to hear the reverse is true. Cool.

She also wrote Ooku, which has interesting gender things going on.

That won the Tiptree in the same year as nineweaving. I should really give it a try.

I've read the first volume of Ooku, a couple of years back, and keep meaning to read more. The first was fascinating, and I've heard good things.

However, warning that the series needs almost every trigger warning I can think of based on what I read in the FIRST VOLUME. It's not sensationalist, but lots of variously terrible things happen to lots of people (and animals).
