That something needs not to be you. These last weeks have been insanely stressful--is there any mindspace you can go to? Comfort reading? Music? Quiet walks? Time alone or with a loving friend? Can we get you to the sea?
You have all my sympathy and hope. Mercury's got to turn sometime.
Yeah, it's a certifiably dreadful set of things you've been dealing with, that's for sure. (Thank god I took that course at Holyoke Community College in Life Event Certification, which qualifies me to say...)
I don't know what the music events that yamamanama has been going to (described here and here), but they have to be somewhere near you, and they seem like the sort of things you and derspatchel might enjoy. If schedules, time, and transportation allow, they might be a good distraction.
Our beloved Berrycat became a panther in the sky about ten weeks ago. I've had cat-shaped holes in my heart before, but there's a certain dull clawmark ache in all four chambers that can make it seem like everything's being dragged under. I've found that breathing sometimes helps. Not any kind of deep or special breathing, just the kind where I keep using my lungs and don't walk in front of trains or anything.
Losing a cat can be the most soul-crushing thing. It being a punctuation in an already not good time can be terrible. Been there. Perhaps when you finally shake the strep you'll find a bit of rest and clarity.

I don't think so, unless you have any reliable leads on three-bedroom apartments in the Davis area, but thank you very much for asking. I do mean it.

If I did, I would have pointed you to them already. All the places I know of that are looking for tenants are shared 3-5 person apartments.

I didn't think you were holding out on me.
The market is unbelievable.
