Say you trust me

Does anyone know which film this postcard of Conrad Veidt would have been for?

He appears to be rocking the evil divinity student look.

Whoa. Fabulous.

The Church of the Necrotic Neurosis.

Perhaps this is how he dressed when he was "just being himself"? If not, I'd like to think it was something to do with his being up for the role of Dracula (which the head of Universal had intended for him, so says IMDB). He certainly has a most insouciant way with a crucifix.

My friend Gail-Nina, who knows about such things, answers without pausing for breath: "Silent German movie The Student of Prague 1926. (Available, in episodes,
on YouTube)"

I thought it might be The Student of Prague, but all I could find at first pass were pictures of him in his student's peaked cap.

Should have looked further, but it was already past four.

If he makes it through divinity school and takes up a post, I fear for his congregation.

It's like a German Expressionist Snape.
