You have no idea how difficult it is not to tell someone who has just expressed a wistful desire to give up philosophy and run a fruit stand in Paris that they are giving you flashbacks to Wittgenstein, even when under the circumstances it would clearly be unkind.

I could hang out with the salamanders, newts and efts. I think they would accept me as one of their own if I remained cold enough from swimming.

My icon is Bottom from A Midsummer Night's Dream, as played by Kevin Kline in that version that came out in the 1990s and had a half-naked Rupert Everett as Oberon and Michelle Pfeiffer as Titania. I was addicted to that one and saw it like five times in the theaters. I want to watch it again soon, now that I'm thinking of it.

Let me know how it holds up. My definitive Bottom is probably James Cagney, who as far as I can tell never did another Shakespeare onscreen and really should have, although the rest of the film around him is wildly uneven.
