And seas between the twain

My poem "Anthology" is now online at Scheherezade's Bequest, the printless Cabinet des Fées. Fellow contributors include [livejournal.com profile] time_shark, [livejournal.com profile] hooks_and_books, [livejournal.com profile] tithenai, [livejournal.com profile] mer_moon, [livejournal.com profile] ajodasso, and other unusual suspects. The poem was not intended to contain an A.E. Housman echo, but I suspect Sappho won't mind. It reminds me that I need to translate some poems into Greek.

". . . in the earth in those days" is only in English, but it will appear in a future issue of Sirenia Digest. I stole its basic conceit from Mrs. S.C. Hall's "The Seal-Wife: An Irish Legend"—Godey's Lady's Book, March 1843; I have [livejournal.com profile] asakiyume to thank for drawing it to my attention—in which selkies are glossed as the souls of those who drowned in Noah's flood. Needless to say, I have my own ideas about whether this is a penance.

Thanks to everyone who offered their ideas about computer-buying. I gave up on stores entirely; I am now awaiting the new arrival, which I should probably encircle with all the apotropaic rituals I can write.

My brother will be married in ten days.

Hurrah for "Anthology"! And, of course, for the usual suspects.

"Sappho won't mind" is rather a nice catch phrase.

That's a swell selkie legend. Do they gather under rainbows to deplore the covenant?

I'm envisioning your new computer as a sort of mashed garlic sandwich...

Mazel tov to the happy couple.

Nine

You can read it over at my journal--I scanned in the pages (this entry). Nothing quite so wild and free as you suggest, alas.
