Ricardo Montalban's died as well--it just came on the TV. I'm surprised they didn't refer to his having played Khan.

He wasn't part of my childhood landscape—Patrick McGoohan is why weather balloons are haunted and uncanny.

You know, I've never actually seen more than a little bit of The Prisoner. I suppose that's another of the numerous things I should remedy, at some point.

I do know the feeling, though for some reason much of what I remember of TV from childhood most vividly seems to be either a) things my parents were watching, or b) odd little bits like a dialogueless stop-motion (?) short involving little creatures that looked like pigs and which apparently lived on the Moon.

Although even as I stay that I start thinking about things like The Muppet Show and various cartoons. Memory is a strange thing.
