He's not a number. He's a free man.

There's a sort of irony having him die in the year a new mini--series of The Prisoner is coming out.

"Be seeing you."

Yes, indeed.

(Nice pieces in GOBLIN FRUIT, by the way.)

" ... The Muppet Show."

May he rest in peace.

Ricardo Montalban's died as well--it just came on the TV. I'm surprised they didn't refer to his having played Khan.

He wasn't part of my childhood landscape—Patrick McGoohan is why weather balloons are haunted and uncanny.

You know, I've never actually seen more than a little bit of The Prisoner. I suppose that's another of the numerous things I should remedy, at some point.

I do know the feeling, though for some reason much of what I remember of TV from childhood most vividly seems to be either a) things my parents were watching, or b) odd little bits like a dialogueless stop-motion (?) short involving little creatures that looked like pigs and which apparently lived on the Moon.

Although even as I stay that I start thinking about things like The Muppet Show and various cartoons. Memory is a strange thing.

The prisoner is taking his shoes off to walk in the rain

I was a Danger Man fan, and just followed him from there into The Prisoner. All the same - he seems to have done so many other things, and he still can't escape from the Village.

For those of you in the States

Amctv has made the entire original series available for viewing online.

No idea how long.

Be seeing you, indeed. My 'The Prisoner' viewing experience is among the strangest experiences in my life, most deserving of a story.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll get right on it.
