My poem "Muse" has won second place in the 2008 Dwarf Stars Award.

First place, Greg Beatty's "Place Mat by Moebius." It is a haiku and terrific.

Third place, Ann K. Schwader's "Dancing to Van Gogh."

Go and congratulate them! My year sucks a little less!

Actually, I almost never hold to 5-7-5 haiku, as it tends to produce bloated crap (like, well, that one). I hold to the Henderson "spirit of the law" idea that 5-7-5 is a maximum in English haiku, and the shorter the better (I still think the best haiku I ever wrote is

salt
trickles
down)
