Erev Yom Kippur is upon us and we are simmering a chicken curry with spinach and mushrooms in advance of sundown. I don't think time has ever felt re-jointed, but we will light the yahrzeit candles and remember the dead, named and unnamed, who came to this season before us. I am slowly and apotropaically working on something I have missed doing. I hope this grey weather has been restorative for the water table.
