I had a very nice weekend with my family and a nice afternoon with [personal profile] rushthatspeaks and I am heading into another astoundingly medical week, which I am hoping will yield answers rather than merely more medical.

The weekend was a combination of my niece's first official sleepover at her grandparents' house (the times she slept over as an infant do not count since she cannot remember them) and my brother's birthday observed. We watched Ponyo (2008) and cooked local corn and creamed spinach and small steaks with Béarnaise sauce for the people who could eat them and made strawberry shortcake for everyone. It was surprisingly vacationlike for being so small-child-intense. My mother has another chrysalis and three more monarch caterpillars now.

I have finished my first fiction since December. Fragments of it go back to 2014, but the majority was written since last month's heat wave with the assistance of "Was Ice, Am Ocean," the pendant of labradorite and silver wire acquired from [personal profile] elisem at Readercon. The folksong "Jenny Storm" is in it, too, and the rest of this sentence was deleted after I booted Tiny Wittgenstein off my keyboard. It has drowned lovers and whaling. I should like to find it a home.

For reasons ranging from health to finance to impending NecronomiCon Providence, I will not be at Worldcon, but I hope everyone has a nice time in Dublin. I was there once fifteen years ago; I remember liking it.
