I got to Readercon and Fiona Maeve Geist greeted me with a copy of the Priestess of Morphine: The Lost Writings of Marie-Madeleine in the Time of Nazis (2015), so nothing about this weekend can be all bad.
Actually my first panel was a lot of fun; we discussed all kinds of ambiguity in horror, from vagueness to liminality to dislocation, and only in the last thirty seconds clarified the idea of horror as a genre of concealment and revelation, which I would like someone who isn't me to write about. rushthatspeaks, handful_ofdust, and ashnistrike, talking Indonesian horror and Canadian politics. I may or may not spend tomorrow on either side of my reading literally in bed; it seems that I am not just in pain, I am in fact sick. Immune system, this is not what I asked you to do. We'll see how much sleep I can get tonight. At least I have central air on my side.
My phone remains a flip phone, profoundly not designed for photography; you point it faceward and hope for the best. I decided I liked this attempt despite the blur.
