The rates are better in the summer
I had spam this morning from Jonah Rosemary. That is a name that deserves a story.
Sometime after noon, I remembered that the release date of the Dresden Dolls' No, Virginia . . . was today, so I picked up a copy from Newbury Comics when I met
nineweaving at Burdick's in Harvard Square. I love it. "Boston" has been a true favorite of mine from the first time I heard it, one of the few songs that can make me cry; I would have bought the album for its presence alone, but "The Gardener" is darkly mythic, thorny erotica, and "Dear Jenny" is a perfect piece of NOU, and I had never even read the lyrics to "Night Reconnaissance," but it's been ricocheting in my head since nine o'clock: I have no doubt the rest of the album will soon catch up. It is probably a good sign that their music makes me want to write.
I watched an hour of American Idol with
ericmvan tonight. There went my ability to conjugate Akkadian D-stems.

Yes. That one also was new to me; I want to hear it live.
I shall be on the lookout for it this weekend.
Good luck, and enjoy!
Coincidentally, I spent a large part of yesterday listening to Yes, Virginia....
They really are companion pieces. No, Virginia . . . is much less a compilation of B-sides than the other half of a double-CD album.
