The rates are better in the summer
I had spam this morning from Jonah Rosemary. That is a name that deserves a story.
Sometime after noon, I remembered that the release date of the Dresden Dolls' No, Virginia . . . was today, so I picked up a copy from Newbury Comics when I met
nineweaving at Burdick's in Harvard Square. I love it. "Boston" has been a true favorite of mine from the first time I heard it, one of the few songs that can make me cry; I would have bought the album for its presence alone, but "The Gardener" is darkly mythic, thorny erotica, and "Dear Jenny" is a perfect piece of NOU, and I had never even read the lyrics to "Night Reconnaissance," but it's been ricocheting in my head since nine o'clock: I have no doubt the rest of the album will soon catch up. It is probably a good sign that their music makes me want to write.
I watched an hour of American Idol with
ericmvan tonight. There went my ability to conjugate Akkadian D-stems.

(I did not know this! I shall be on the lookout for it this weekend. Coincidentally, I spent a large part of yesterday listening to Yes, Virginia....)

Yes. That one also was new to me; I want to hear it live.

Good luck, and enjoy!
Coincidentally, I spent a large part of yesterday listening to Yes, Virginia....
They really are companion pieces. No, Virginia . . . is much less a compilation of B-sides than the other half of a double-CD album.

And some of those lyrics in "Night Reconnaissance"--they make me think of your stuff.
You've seen them in concert, right? A pretty great experience, I'm assuming?

I'm honored!

Oh, yes. I discovered them because I attended the 2002 Ig Nobel Awards at Sanders Theatre and they were the opening act. They played "Christopher Lydon" (the same version that later ended up on A Is for Accident) and "Good Day" and I went home, looked them up, and discovered that Amanda Palmer was also a graduate of Lexington High School. And then had to wait until 2003 for any albums of theirs! They're spectacular live.

No kidding! Do you know what year?

She was born in 1976, so I think she graduated the spring before I got there? It's still cool. When I went back for a visit in college, I saw their self-titled EP on our Latin teacher's shelves.
(I think Amanda Panther hangs out with Jonah Rosemary. Probably they both knew Hector when he was alive, but they don't like to own to it now.)

I need to start using that Hector icon too ;-)

Understatement. It makes me sad that I will have to wait until at least tomorrow (and more realistically Friday) to pick up a copy.

May a music store swiftly come your way.

I doubt this will help the pressure, but: I so want to read that.

I suppose it does. I once got spam from Benito Riddle, who, I presume, is Voldemort's Mexican cousin.
It is probably a good sign that their music makes me want to write.
Excellent.
There went my ability to conjugate Akkadian D-stems.
Now I'm even more frightened of American Idol than I already was. I hope your ability to conjugate has returned.

Okay, that's scary.
I hope your ability to conjugate has returned.
ilū lišmûka!

Especially since a friend of a friend saw the post where I mentioned this, and was apparently inspired to start writing fanfic about Draco Malfoy's post-Hogwarts life as Señor Draco, the owner-operator of a Mexican resort.
ilū lišmûka!
Hopefully that means something along the lines of 'yes'?

Eeeeek.
Hopefully that means something along the lines of 'yes'?
It should mean "may the gods hear you!" But I will probably be nervous about it until double-checked by
