It is a grey day for a solstice.
Not all of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) works equally well in black and white, but enough of it works that
derspatchel and I spent a full hour last night sending each other screencaps and discussing cinematography, shadow-work, matte effects, soundstages, and whether it would really have looked that way if shot by Republic Pictures. Choose your own, discuss. Some of this movie is amazingly beautiful in monochrome.
My story "Moving Nameless," originally published in Not One of Us #27, has been accepted for reprint by King David and the Spiders from Mars, edited by Tim Lieder (Dybbuk Press, July 2013).
