Eight restraining orders
2012-12-11 15:38[This portion of today's post written at quarter to ten in the morning and left to twiddle its thumbs on my desktop due to nonexistent internet.]
Yesterday being our last full day in Florida, we got a slightly late start due to lack of sleep and being woken by housekeeping at nine in the morning when they opened the door, but I think still managed to pull off quite a satisfying day. The tally, in brief:
Hollywood Studios: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (twice), The Great Movie Ride, Muppet*Vision 3D (Jim Henson's last project!), and the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. And a wonderful piece of street theater ("The Twelve Days of Hollywood Christmas") starring some of the former members of the Adventurers Club and the too-slow tourists they pulled out of the crowd, at least one of whom turned out to have a charming gift for improv.
Magic Kingdom: the Carousel of Progress, Space Mountain (both sides! We did not smash into things in the dark and die!), the PeopleMover, The Haunted Mansion (also twice), and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Pleasure Island: dinner at Raglan Road with
derspatchel's mother. She took some pictures of us I'll post if I can get copies. I told the musician I liked his version of Ewan MacColl's "Dirty Old Town" and he gave me his phone number.
Our plan this morning: to ride the Rip Ride Rockit, dammit. And whatever else we have time for. And then catch our flight.
[This portion of today's post written at three-fifteen in the afternoon, sitting against Rob's chair in the Orlando airport, which has free wi-fi but no working outlets, what is that supposed to encourage?]
RIP RIDE ROCKIT ACHIEVED. TWICE. TAKE THAT, SATURDAY.
And then we rode Harry Potter again. And the dragons: blue for scenic, red for air. And had lunch at Jake's American Bar, where I had been coveting the hot pretzels since the first night of Hanukkah. We are now waiting for our flight, which was delayed just enough to give us time for an extra ride at Universal, and fighting with download speeds and read-only privileges. There will be photographs when we get home. Also, sleep.
It has been a very good trip.
