I left the house this afternoon with my book of M.R. James, which I figured I would re-read on the buses. (I need the collected works.)
I returned with the prescription I had meant to pick up from the Somerville pharmacy, the jeans and Turing shirt I opportunistically retrieved from
derspatchel's, and a copy of J.-H. Rosny aîné's Three Science Fiction Novellas: From Prehistory to the End of Mankind (2012) trans. Danièle Chatelain and George Slusser and half a dozen peaches I had no idea
rushthatspeaks was going to send me home with. I would have included the ridiculously local root beer from Dave's Fresh Pasta, but I left it with Rob. I have already read Rosny aîné's "Un autre monde"—it's brilliant—and am about to curl up in bed with the rest of the book.
This is a great improvement on a day that began with me feeling about ready to give up on having a body at all.
