I spent most of this past weekend in bed. Fortunately, there was a James Bond marathon on, so I didn't need to exert my brain and still got to see Honor Blackman and Sean Connery practice judo holds on one another.

Upon returning to the world of the living, I see that Mythic #1 has received a rather nice review at Tangent Online, wherein I am compared to someone whom I should clearly have read by now. [livejournal.com profile] time_shark also offers his reactions to the review. Yay for Charlie Saplak, [livejournal.com profile] erzebet, and [livejournal.com profile] ogre_san!

I get to teach Seamus Heaney and James Joyce this week, so I can't complain too much. I've also realized that the fanimutation "French Erotic Film does exactly the same thing with Ome Henk's "Opblaaskrokodil" (a damnably catchy piece of music that is fortunately available here, or I'd have lost my mind by now) that Louis Zukofsky did with Catullus in his famously weird 1969 translation.* See here for the original Dutch lyrics, English translation, and fanimutation soundalikes. There must be a way for me to work this into a Latin class some day.

*For one of his more coherent results, see Catullus 8.
