You brought me back a lemon and you squeezed me tight
"Would a Calvinist have just scoffed an entire bag of fish jerky?" I reasonably texted
selkie, who had just significantly improved the evening of a week that has taken a deeply unwanted turn for the medical by causing a bagful of groceries and seltzer to appear on the front steps. Hestia professed interest in the little squares of maple-and-coconut salmon, but had to content herself with treats designed for delectation of cat and curling up on the couch next to me. I am fascinated by the pumpkin spice cookies that come ready to bake from refrigerated. The bananas are already having a short shelf life.

spatch: "Who the hell is going to steal and sell Pedialyte? If you could get high off it, I'd have spent 2023 as a kite."

I am a soft-cookie person except where biscotti are concerned and appreciate this tip.

Molasses? All the stuff that goes in pumpkin spice but doesn't have to be pumpkin spice by proportion? Normally autumnal ingredients?

Gluten, dairy, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, sesame and seven other allergens are not present in their products. And they taste good!

What a terrible and yet cogent point.

There was also pistachio butter.

It's the color of pond scum and it's the best!

(Admittedly, I say that without sampling actual pond scum, but I feel pretty safe in the statement)

At Lucy Ethiopian, we've gotten peanut butter tea, and again, I think using pistachio butter with hot water and honey (and milk? I forget) would be pretty damn tasty.
The NYT said pistachios and cherries go well together, and provided a recipe involving charred scallions. That also sounds worth experimenting with, but in terms of something close to their recipe and also a soup variation.
Who the hell is going to steal and sell Pedialyte?
I think I missed seeing this in the news, and am probably happier for it.

Pistachios and cherries go splendidly together and I would be intrigued to see a savorier setting for them.

Given the preponderance of cherries, maybe not as savory as I had remembered, but I'm definitely still curious, and wonder about flipping the cherry/pistachio ratio for something more savory.
As for "locked up", it makes me wonder if anyone has successfully used misdirection: lock something up to make it look attractive and take attention away from something more valuable/precious.

I would have linked that!

I'm also happy for you that you get pumpkin spice cookies. I am craving a pumpkin spice latte something fierce.

Thanks. I'm really not at the moment and have spent much of the last couple of days trying to find out why.
I'm also happy for you that you get pumpkin spice cookies. I am craving a pumpkin spice latte something fierce.
I hope your life provides you with one! If I can see displays of Halloween candy in August, you should be able to get pumpkin spice lattes in September.

My first unfiltered response was basically FISH JERKY WE WANTS IT PRECIOUS, but it did contain the other sentiments.

Thank you. Hestia was definitely in doctor mode and I appreciate it, since the nonsense continues.

I bet it can be found in formats you can eat! It is a brilliant concept.

I'm glad to hear it. No one should be deprived of fish jerky who wants it.

(Seriously: that does sound like a fascinating range of foods and a good thing. Maple and coconut salmon squares!)

I would put a heart on this sentence if DW had them.

O brave new world that has such snack foods in it!
