I have a new shirt, by which I mean its age and provenance are indeterminate and it fits me. This is increasingly how I acquire my good clothes and I'm not complaining.



All I wanted to do last night was lie on the couch and watch the Granada Sherlock Holmes (1984–94), except the source that I used for this purpose last spring had expired from the freely available internet, so instead I lay on the couch and read Arthur Conan Doyle and AO3, which were satisfying in their own right but not quite the same thing.

I have mentioned that my brother was almost named Ilya, in homage? (He ended up named after another of my mother's favorite characters instead.)

I think you may have mentioned that about your brother's near-naming, but it had slipped my mind. I cannot help being reminded of, "Rebecca Rowena Randall." "What, BOTH?" Though I'd rather be named out of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." than Walter Scott.
