Akkadoporn!

In honor of the holiday, and to counterbalance the portion of Ištar's Descent presented earlier today, I offer here a Neo-Assyrian ŠÀ.ZI.GA incantation. Literally, "heart-lifting." A more accurate translation might be "getting it up." Ahem.

LJ-cut for scenes of explicit sexuality and Akkadian anatomical slang.

šiptu : lillik šāru šadê linušū
liktasir urpatumma tikū littuk
limgug imēruma atāna lirkab
litbi daššu lirtakkabu unīqī
ina rēš eršīya lū rakis daššu
ina šēpit eršīya lū rakis puhālu
ša rēš eršīya tibā rāmanni
ša šēpit eršīya tibā hubbibanni
ūruya ūru kalbati ušaršu ušar kalbi
kīma ūru kalbati isbatu ušar kalbi
ušarka lirika mala mašgašu
ašbaka ina būnzerri ša sīhatê
bu''ura ay ahti : šiptu

Let the wind come, let the mountains shake,
let the clouds weave together, let raindrops fall,
let the donkey stiffen, let him mount the jenny,
let the goat rise, let him keep mounting the nanny.
At the head of my bed, may a goat be tied,
at the foot of my bed, may a ram be tied.
You at the head of my bed, rise, make love to me.
You at the foot of my bed, rise, murmur to me.
My cunt is a bitch's cunt, his prick a dog's prick,
as the bitch's cunt seized the dog's prick.
May your prick grow as long as a battle-mace!
I am sitting in a net of pleasures:
may I do my prey no wrong!

The word šiptu, "incantation," is placed parenthetically around this text to be recited by a woman to her lover. A ritual almost entirely in Sumerograms follows; I have not included that here.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thank you so much. Not only is that absolutely lovely, but I am now having to fight the impulse to do a compare and contrast on some of the Greek magical papyri, and may well lose sometime this week. Yay.

So, um . . . are you going to memorize this for execution, or just bring a hard copy? Either way, savor his face.

Fantastic! I especially liked the last line...

Whoa... John Hurt as Ozymandias? Weird.

I'm assuming this is from I, Claudius.

There is a certain resemblance! And yes, that's him as Caligula...

I've gotta see that.

So now I hope John Hurt plays Ozymandias in the upcoming Watchmen movie. Yeah, the movie will be less then stellar, but at least then it'll have John Hurt!

My eyes.

Shocking, I say!

Shocking! What kind of Akkadian teacher would teach such smut in the classroom? Has he no shame? I suggest an immediate regimen of self-paddling for him, posthaste! I am so offended that I'm going to have to read this again! And again! And again!

And again!
