We are home. You can tell because someone just set off a window-rattling firework less than a block from our building. Nonetheless, we celebrated our return inland with clam chowder and fish and chips. My hair still smells faintly of salt and I take comfort in it.

Given the very high levels of hateful everything lately, I was truly not expecting the Supreme Court ruling on workplace protections and queer rights to go the way it did. I am very happy it did! May it presage similarly humane rulings when the rest of the everything hits the legal fan.

Just hoping that our own idiot government won't get away with the changes for the worse they want to make to trans rights here.

I hope so, too. You should be protected.

(Our government has also been virulent in its persecution of trans people: it is, once again, nothing but cruelty for cruelty's sake. I am hoping the SCOTUS ruling will offer some counterweight.)
