We are home. You can tell because someone just set off a window-rattling firework less than a block from our building. Nonetheless, we celebrated our return inland with clam chowder and fish and chips. My hair still smells faintly of salt and I take comfort in it.

Given the very high levels of hateful everything lately, I was truly not expecting the Supreme Court ruling on workplace protections and queer rights to go the way it did. I am very happy it did! May it presage similarly humane rulings when the rest of the everything hits the legal fan.

I wasn't that surprised by the Supreme Court decision - as long as the issue doesn't deal with guns or keeping the GOP in power, Roberts is (barely) okay. OTOH, I'd have bet money Gorsuch would have voted the other way. In any case, thank the gods we all won this one.

There has been so much cruelty, obstruction, rollback, and murder under this administration, I was surprised that anything checked the tide. So, yes. May it not be a blip. (And I had no expectations for Gorsuch, either.)

I was scunnered by the Supreme Court decision. I'd just assumed all of their decisions would be garbage from now on. What particularly delights me is Alito's temper tantrum and the apparent very casual dismissal of it by Gorsuch. I guess if you are any kind of a lawyer it was a very easy case. Gorsuch is not my hero; I am sure he is capable of horrors and will commit some at some point. But I am so happy he did not do so for this case.
